At St. Barnabas we believe that by learning about the past and becoming familiar with the methods used to study sources, children can better understand and contribute to the world in which they live.  We cover the National Curriculum by follow the schemes of work provided by Cornerstones 22. We stimulate children’s interest by taking a thematic approach to study key events and the lives of significant people. Projects include ‘Dynamic Dynasties’, ‘Marvelous Monarchs’ and ‘Britain at War’. We study both British and world history helping children to develop a sense of both national and global historical themes.  We also teach the children how to investigate these past events and how to evaluate the importance of different historical sources and by doing so, they develop the skills of enquiry, analysis, interpretation and problem solving.
