At St. Barnabas, we inspire children by approaching geography as an investigate subject. Children are not only encouraged to develop a greater understanding and knowledge of the world, but also to appreciate their own place in it.  Our curriculum covers the National Curriculum using the Cornerstones 22 schemes of work that cover a range of  clearly progressive knowledge and skills. This learning is transferable to other curriculum areas and opportunities are sought to support children to make connections between subjects. For example good geographical knowledge  promotes children’s spiritual, moral, social and cultural development.   In particular we seek to:

  • inspire in children a curiosity and fascination about the world and its people
  • promote the children’s interest and knowledge of diverse places, people, resources and natural and human environments
  • deepen knowledge and  understanding of the earth’s key physical and human processes.
